ABOUT DR. VAUTER

Licensed as a clinical psychologist in Virginia since 2005, and board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) since 2009, Dr. Vauter is also a seasoned executive leader with experience leading large organizations and programs at the local, state, and national levels, including six years as the Chief Executive Officer of a maximum security forensic facility. With a particular focus on high-risk, underserved populations, she has also worked in correctional and outpatient settings in the public and private sectors.

Dr. Vauter has been serving the courts of Virginia since 2004, and is available to conduct forensic mental health evaluations across the Commonwealth. She has qualified as an expert in multiple jurisdictions in Virginia, and is an experienced expert witness. She was granted authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) by the PSYPACT Commission (APIT #16469), enabling her to conduct evaluations in all states participating in PSYPACT.

Dr. Vauter is a former member of the Virginia Board of Psychology; a peer reviewer for Virginia's Forensic Evaluation Oversight program; and long-time adjunct faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Courses taught include Ethics in Psychology; Personality Assessment; Intellectual Assessment; Abnormal Psychology; and Principles of Psychological Measurement. Her experience also includes extensive clinical supervision of students, residents, and licensed clinicians.

Dr. Vauter's interest in clinical ethics led to her current service on the Ethics Committee of the American Board of Professional Psychology, for which she is the Chair in 2025, and her previous service as the Associate Director of the Center for Ethical Practice in Charlottesville, Virginia.
